CYRSTALIZATION

ARTIST
BIO

Born and raised in Newfoundland, Canada. Moved to Brooks, Alberta when she was 22.  Being creative her whole life through music, style, thinking, but didn't have the confidence to try painting until she was 27.   She soon stumbled across a one of a kind studio on the outskirts of Brooks called The Red Roof Studio, that inspired her and made her feel at home. Although she didn't take any formal lessons, she still attributes a lot of her success to the support and guidance she received and continues to receive through the owners of the studio, artist Rita Wildschut and her husband photographer Collin Wildschut.

Being taught how to paint was never appealing to Cyrstal. She believes that creativity is in everyone, and finding the right inspiration is key. That letting it grow naturally will give you the opportunity to experience it in its purest form.

Since her journey began she has dabbled in numerous mediums, but prefers the subject matter of figures. And in the fall of 2016 she held her first solo art show called "Flesh" held at the studio that had become so dear to her. All pieces were done in Acrylic on textured plaster, and was a hit among buyers.

Since the success of her first show, she has been hired by the Newell Youth Action Network to interact with the teens through the schools of the county and inspire them to adopt creative thinking into their everyday lives; In May 2017, only 8 months after her first show, Cyrstal held her next called "Dichotomy". All pieces were again painted in acrylic on textured plaster, and again was a hit among buyers.
